Louisiana Parade of Homes

Home Builders Association of Greater Baton Rouge

About the HBA of Greater Baton Rouge

The HBA was founded in Baton Rouge, LA, in 1953, by six residential contractors who knew that their voice would be louder and stronger as a group rather than individuals. The association’s initial goal was to stop some unnecessary regulations from being imposed onto the industry and causing the cost of housing to increase. They also wanted the opportunity to stay on top of the best practices for residential construction. For the past 60+ years, those goals have not changed.

Originally the group was called the Home Builders & Apartment Association of Greater Baton Rouge and was located in the corner of a builder’s office downtown. Eventually, more members joined, and the association established itself as an essential advocate for promoting change within the community. After a few more moves, the leadership built the beautiful building where HBA is today. The name was changed to Capital Region Builders Association in 1997. In 2018, we shifted to the Home Builders Association of Greater Baton Rouge. It allowed us to better address our role in the community and on a national scale.

The HBA of Greater Baton Rouge is proud to be a part of the first ever Louisiana Statewide Parade of Homes Tour for you to view in the comfort of your home.
